# Take Payments on Your Phone in the Hive Inspect Mobile App

> Use Fees and Payments in the Hive Inspect mobile app: card payment link, copy the link, record cash or check, edit a payment, see the payment summary and the invoice.

In the mobile app: open a **Confirmed** inspection → the **Fees & Payments** tile.

**Fees and Payments** lets you take payment at the property: open the card payment page, text the client a payment link, or record a check or cash. It opens only on a **Confirmed** inspection with a price. The tile shows **Paid**, **Partially Paid**, **Pending** or **Overdue**.

| Part | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Badge** (top right) | **Pending**, **Partial**, **Paid** or **Overdue**. |
| **Total Amount** | The inspection's price. |
| **Pay via Credit Card** | Opens the client payment page in your browser, where you or the client pay by card, bank transfer or Affirm. After a partial payment it reads **Pay Remaining Balance** with the amount due. |
| **Copy** button on it | Copies the payment link, so you can text or email it to the client. |
| **Show Invoice** | Opens the invoice PDF. If there isn't one yet, Hive creates it. |
| **Record Payment** | Records a payment you received yourself, such as a check. On a paid inspection it reads **Edit Payment**. |

While a bank transfer is clearing, the card button shows **Payment Processing: ACH transfer in progress**.

A **Payment Summary** appears once anything is paid: **Service Total**, **Amount Paid**, **Amount Due**, and the **Last Payment** with its type, amount, date and notes.

## Record a payment

1. Tap **Record Payment**.
2. Type the **Amount**, or tap **Use** to fill in the balance due.
3. Pick the **Payment type**: Cash, Check, Credit Card, Debit Card, Wire Transfer, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, E-Transfer or Other.
4. Check the **Payment date**.
5. Add **Internal notes** if you like, such as a check number. Only your team sees them.
6. Tap **Record Payment**.

The payment is **added** to what's already been paid and the invoice is updated. The app tells you, for example, "Payment of $200.00 recorded. Remaining balance: $400.00", or "The inspection is fully paid."

Recording a payment doesn't charge anyone. To charge a card, use **Pay via Credit Card**.

## Edit a payment

On a paid inspection, tap **Edit Payment** to fix a payment you recorded, for example the wrong type or date. **Edit Payment Details** **replaces** everything recorded so far with the total you enter. It isn't added to it.

Change what you need and tap **Update Payment**.

Some payments can only be changed on the dashboard. The app then says "This payment can't be edited in the app" and why:

* it was paid online by card through Stripe (use **Refund Payment** on the dashboard to give money back);
* it has a refund on it;
* part of it was paid by another contact (a split payment).

## What you do on the dashboard

Refunds, clearing a payment, requesting the balance by email and splitting the bill with an agent are on the dashboard's **Fees and Payments** card. ## Common questions

> **Why is the Fees & Payments tile greyed out?**
>
> It opens only on a **Confirmed** inspection with a price above $0. Others read **Not Available**, and a $0 inspection reads **N/A**.

> **The client paid by check. How do I mark it paid?**
>
> Tap **Record Payment**, tap **Use** to fill in the balance, pick **Check**, add the check number in **Internal notes** and tap **Record Payment**.

> **How do I send the client a payment link from my phone?**
>
> Tap the copy button on **Pay via Credit Card** and paste the link into a text or email.

> **Can I refund in the app?**
>
> No. Refunds are on the dashboard. See [Refund an inspection](https://docs.hiveinspect.com/how-tos/refund-inspection.md).
