# Reports and the client portal: troubleshooting Hive

> Answers about a report your client cannot open, a repair addendum an agent is building, and the custom fields that do or do not reach the finished report.

## Repair addendum

    No. The addendum is a separate PDF generated from the report. Your published report is never edited by the agent.

  <Accordion title="Can the client (homebuyer) build the addendum instead of the agent?">
    Yes. Anyone with access to the report in the client portal can use the tool, though in practice the buyer's agent usually prepares it.

  <Accordion title="Is there a cost to the agent or client?">
    No. The repair addendum tool is included with every published Hive Inspect report at no extra charge.

## Custom fields

  <Accordion title="Do custom fields appear in the client's report?">
    Only where you place the placeholder. A field you use purely for internal tracking, like a lockbox code, stays private unless you add it to report text.

  <Accordion title="Can I edit a custom field's value after the inspection is published?">
    Yes. Update the value on the inspection and regenerate the document; the placeholder picks up the new value.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I use a custom field in calendar event descriptions?">
    Yes. Custom field placeholders work in calendar event titles and descriptions too, so a lockbox code or permit number can show up right on the inspector's calendar.
