# What's New in Hive Inspect: Aug 23, 2026

> Flag comments in templates, larger PDF photos, adaptive digital report layouts, collapsed comments on mobile, 62% faster sync, and more improvements.

## New this week

### Flag comments directly in your template

Flag comments inside the Template Editor, and every report created from that template starts with those comments flagged. The report can't be published until the flagged items are reviewed and manually unflagged — useful for items you always want inspectors to double-check before publishing.

A dedicated flagged-items view in both the mobile app and the Web Editor lets you see, edit, and unflag everything in one place. See [Inspection Templates](/templates/inspection-templates).

### Larger photos in PDF reports

Unlike the digital report, clients can't tap a PDF photo to enlarge it — so you can now display **2 photos per row** in your PDFs instead of 3 per row in the standard PDF (or 4 per row in the Compact PDF). The trade-off is a longer PDF, so pick the layout that works better for your reports.

Turn it on under **Business Tools → Report Customizations → PDF → Larger Photos in the PDF**.

### Adaptive layout for Information and Limitation comments

A new digital report customization that reduces unnecessary blank space. When enabled, Information and Limitation comments containing photos, videos, or longer text expand across the full width of the report, while shorter comments continue to fit into the three-column layout. When disabled, everything stays in the standard three-column layout.

This dynamic design might not suit every template, so try it and see if it works for you: **Business Tools → Report Customizations → Digital Report → Adaptive Layout for Information & Limitations**.

### Keep comments collapsed by default on mobile

Previously, Multiple Choice and Text comments expanded automatically whenever you opened a subsection in the mobile app. Now you choose: turn off **My Profile → Comment Auto-Expand → Auto-expand Comments on Open** to keep comments collapsed until you need them.

### Faster sync and PDF generation

### Quick invoice view on the payment screen

Clients who open a payment link can now review the invoice line items directly on the payment screen before completing payment. See [Payment Options](/business-tools/payment-options).

### Better invoice PDF file names

Downloaded invoice PDFs now include the property address and payment status in the file name instead of a generic name like `Invoice.pdf`, making them much easier to identify later.

### New Information and Limitation comments default to Checkbox

Roughly 99% of newly created Information and Limitation comments are Checkbox comments, so new comments in these categories now default to Checkbox — one less click. You can still switch to Multiple Choice or Text from the dropdown. Updated across the Template Editor, Web Editor, and mobile app.

### Media counter in the Template Editor

Collapsed comments in the Template Editor now show a media item counter, like the one in the report editor, so you can tell which comments contain photos or other media without opening each one.

### Inspector selector for multi-inspector companies

Multi-inspector firms get an **Inspector Selector** directly on the Dashboard homepage to filter and view inspections by inspector.

### Cleaner date and time display on inspection orders

For confirmed inspections, the full date and time selector no longer takes up space on the order page. It's tucked behind the **Date & Time** button and opens only when you need to reschedule. See [Rescheduled Inspections](/how-tos/rescheduled-inspections).

### Duplicated comments appear right below the original

Duplicating a comment previously added the copy at the end of the comment list. The copy now appears directly below the original — in both the mobile app and the Web Editor — so you can keep editing without hunting for it.

## Coming soon

* **Two additional AI features** are in testing. If everything continues looking good, expect them over the next 2–3 weeks.
* **Cost to Cure table generation** for commercial inspectors is in testing, targeting release within the next week.
