# What's New in Hive Inspect: Sep 7, 2026

> Voice Shutter and default annotation shapes on mobile, web and mobile edits merge live, report activity email alerts, send-once automations, and more.

## New this week

### Voice Shutter for hands-free photos

Say a keyword to capture a photo while your phone is on a stand or your hands are busy. Enable it in the mobile app under **My Profile → Camera Settings → Voice Shutter**.

### Default annotation shape

You could already choose a default annotation color. Now you can pick a default shape too. If your most-used shape isn't an arrow, set it under **My Profile → Annotation Settings → Default Shape** and it's preselected every time you open the annotation screen.

### Web and mobile edits merge automatically

When you work on the same report from the Web Editor and the mobile app at the same time, an update made in the mobile app is now merged into your in-progress report in the browser automatically. See [Web Editor](/inspections-and-reports/web-editor).

### Email notifications for report activity

Get an email whenever someone opens your report. Turn it on under **Org Settings → Business Management → Email me on report activity**.

### Send an automation only once

Some triggers can fire more than once on the same inspection, such as add-ons being updated, a report being published, or an inspection being rescheduled. A new option under **Advanced Settings** in each automation skips duplicate emails or SMS messages for repeated instances of the same trigger on that inspection. See [Automations](/contacts-and-automation/automations).

### Automatic contact tagging

Automatically apply a tag to contacts based on how they're added to an inspection. For example, tag every Client or every Agent added to a new inspection. Configure it under **Contacts → Manage Tags → Edit your tag → Select Contact Type**. Once configured, new contacts added under that type receive the tag automatically.

## More improvements this week

### More screen space in the mobile report editor

A pull-up/drop-down bottom navigation in report editor mode gives you more usable screen space while writing your report on your phone.

### Camera zoom fixed on Samsung S23 and S24

Fixed camera zoom issues on certain Samsung S23 and S24 devices. Zoom now goes up to 10x on supported devices.

### Duplicated items appear right below in the Template Editor

Following the same change in the mobile app and Web Editor, duplicating a section, subsection, or comment in the Template Editor now places the copy directly below the original with an incremented number. See [Inspection Templates](/templates/inspection-templates).

### Improved portal activity tracking

Portal activity tracking for clients and buyer agents is more robust, giving you a more complete picture of who accessed your report.

### Smarter inspector selection when booking

Previously, the company's default inspector was preselected regardless of who created the inspection. Now, if an inspector or sub-inspector creates the booking, they're selected automatically. Bookings created by support staff fall back to the company's default inspector. See [Schedule Inspections](/inspections-and-reports/schedule-inspections).

### Multi-inspector calendar in the mobile app

The mobile calendar previously showed one inspector at a time. You can now multi-select inspectors and see events from several team members together in one view, just like on the web dashboard.

### Keep pay splits consistent with multiple inspectors

Previously, if more than one inspector was assigned to an inspection, Hive adjusted the pay split automatically based on the number of inspectors. Multi-inspector companies handle this differently, so you can now choose to keep your pay split the same regardless of how many inspectors are assigned. Configure it under **Business Tools → Pay-Splits**.

## Coming soon

* **AI Smart Add** (about 2 weeks): built on top of Comment Assist. Describe an issue and Hive searches your existing template for the top 3 matching comments, each with a percentage match. Add one directly, or let Hive fall back to Comment Assist to generate a new comment and pick the section and subsection for you to review. Early beta testers reported saving 25–30 minutes per inspection.
* **InterNACHI Buy-Back automated integration** (about 1 week): register inspections with the InterNACHI Buy-Back Guarantee program automatically from Hive. See [InterNACHI Buy-Back](/integrations/internachi).
* **Personal AI Agent for back-office management** (about 3 weeks): available on the web dashboard and mobile app. Ask questions like "How many inspections did I do last week?", "How many slots do I have vacant over the next 3 days?", "Did we send the report-published automation for 124 Main St?", "What inspections in the next 3 days haven't been paid yet?", or "Which upcoming inspections still don't have a signed agreement?" You'll also be able to ask it to take actions, such as "Reschedule tomorrow's inspection at Brabec to 3 PM."
