# Team Roles and Permissions for Multi-Inspector Companies

> Invite sub-inspectors and support staff to Hive Inspect, choose what each person can do with permission switches, and see which team members need a paid seat.

## Roles on a Hive team

Everyone on your team signs in with their own login. The **Teams** page lists each team member, their role and how many permissions they have, for example **8/11 Permissions granted**.

| Role | What it covers |
| - | - |
| **Org owner** | Owns the organization. Always has **Financial Data Access**. |
| **Admin** | Always has **Financial Data Access**. Admins can update other team members' settings. |
| **Inspector** | Does inspections. When an inspector creates a booking, they are selected as its inspector automatically. |
| **Sub-Inspector** | Can create and manage inspections, upload photos, generate reports, and handle client communications. Meant for field inspectors working under your organization. |
| **Support Staff** | Can view inspections, assist with data entry, and help coordinate schedules. Meant for administrative assistants and office staff. |

Bookings created by support staff are assigned to the company's default inspector. Bookings created by an inspector or sub-inspector are assigned to that person. See [Schedule inspections](/inspections-and-reports/schedule-inspections).

<Tip>
  Turn off **Publish Reports** for a trainee or sub-inspector if you want an admin to check their reports first. See [Review reports before they're published](/inspections-and-reports/review-before-publishing).
</Tip>

## Financial Data Access

**Financial Data Access** controls who can view and manage pricing, invoices and payments. Org owners and admins always have it. Other team members need it turned on in **Teams**.

For example, changing the credit card fee on a single inspection needs **Financial Data Access**. See [Technology fee](/how-tos/technology-fee). Issuing a refund as a non-admin in a multi-inspector company also needs the right permission turned on in **Teams**.

## Seats and billing

* **Anyone who does inspections needs a paid seat.** That includes trainees and sub-inspectors. Each additional inspector is $69/month, or $599/year on the annual plan.
* **Office and support staff don't take an inspector seat.** Office managers get their own **Support Staff** login to schedule and manage inspections.
* **The 10-report package and the new-inspector plan are for single-inspector businesses.** You can't add inspectors on either one.

You manage your plan under **Business Tools → Subscriptions**. The **Manage Subscriptions** permission lets a team member view and manage subscriptions, billing and payment methods.

## Related team tools

* **Pay splits:** decide how inspector pay is split on each job under **Business Tools → Pay-Splits**, also linked from the **Teams** page. You can let sub-inspectors see their own earnings. See [Sep 27, 2026 updates](/whats-new/sep-27-2026).
* **Several inspectors on one job:** add more than one inspector to an inspection when you schedule it. See [Schedule inspections](/inspections-and-reports/schedule-inspections).
* **Working hours:** set each inspector's availability so online booking only offers times they can take. See [Team availability](/onboarding/team-availability).
* **Hours worked:** review inspector clock-in and clock-out times. See [Hourly Time Tracker](/business-tools/hourly-time-tracker).
