In the dashboard: Contacts → Manage Brokerages

Manage Brokerages is your company’s list of real estate brokerages. You add each brokerage once, with its office address, phone and website. Then you pick it on each agent’s contact, and the agent can use the brokerage’s office address as their own. The Manage Brokerages page with an Add Brokerage button, a Your Brokerages list of 5 brokerages, a Search by name or city box, and rows showing a checkbox, brokerage name, office address, number of agents, phone and website, with edit and delete icons

The list

  • Your Brokerages shows how many brokerages you have, in name order.
  • Search by name or city finds a brokerage.
  • Each row shows the name, the office address (or No address), how many agents are linked to it, and the phone and website if you added them.
  • The list shows 50 at a time. Click Load more for the rest.

Add a brokerage

1

Click Add Brokerage

It’s at the top right of the page.
2

Fill in the details

Only Brokerage Name is required. The rest is optional: Office Address, Address Line 2, City, State, Zip Code, Country, Phone, Website and Notes. The Edit Brokerage window for Hill Country Realty: the note Changing the address also updates 8 agents using this brokerage's address, then Brokerage Name, Office Address, Address Line 2, City, State, Zip Code, Country, Phone, Website and Notes, with Cancel and Save Changes buttons
3

Click Add Brokerage

Hive says Brokerage added. Each name can only be used once. Hive ignores capital letters and extra spaces, so “ABC Realty” and “abc realty” count as the same name.
Notes are for you. They aren’t shown to clients or agents.

Edit a brokerage

Click the pencil (Edit brokerage) on its row, change what you need, and click Save Changes.
  • New address: every agent who uses the brokerage’s address gets the new one. The window tells you how many, for example “Changing the address also updates 8 agents using this brokerage’s address.” Agents with their own address aren’t changed.
  • New name: every linked agent shows the new name. Hive also remembers the old name. A contact that comes in later with the old name (from a CSV import, for example) is still linked to this brokerage.

See a brokerage’s agents

Click the brokerage’s name (View this brokerage’s contacts). A window lists every contact linked to it, with their email and phone. Uses the brokerage address marks agents whose address follows the brokerage. Click a contact to open their contact page. The Hill Country Realty window showing 1200 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78704 · 12 contacts, with four agents listed by name, email and phone, three marked Uses the brokerage address, and a Load more (8 remaining) button If nobody is linked yet, it says No contacts are assigned to this brokerage yet. You link agents on their contact, not here:
  1. Open the agent under Contacts.
  2. Under Professional Information, pick the brokerage in Brokerage. Type to search. Pick No brokerage to unlink them.
  3. To give the agent the brokerage’s office address, tick Use [brokerage]‘s address under the phone number. Untick it to type their own address.
  4. Save the contact.
See Edit a contact and Use the brokerage’s address. When you pick a brokerage for an agent who has no address yet, they start using the brokerage’s address. An agent who already has an address keeps it.

Agents linked for you

Some contacts arrive with their brokerage typed as text: CSV imports from other software, and agents a client enters when booking online. Hive links them to a brokerage when the text matches one of your brokerages, or a name it used to have. Capital letters and extra spaces don’t matter. If nothing matches, Hive keeps the text on the contact and doesn’t create a brokerage. The contact page then shows Previously entered as ”…”. Select a brokerage to link this contact. Add the brokerage here, then pick it on the contact. An online booking never changes the brokerage of an agent you already linked.

Merge duplicate brokerages

If the same office is in your list twice, for example “Hill Country Realty” and “Hill Country Realty Group”, merge them:
1

Tick the duplicates

Tick the checkbox on two or more rows. A bar shows how many you’ve picked. Click Merge Selected.
2

Choose the one to keep

In Merge [number] Brokerages, click the brokerage to keep. Hive starts with the one that has the most agents. The others say Remove. Change Brokerage Name if you want the merged one called something else. The Merge 2 Brokerages window: Hill Country Realty with 12 agents marked Keep, Hill Country Realty Group with 3 agents marked Remove, the Brokerage Name box, a red warning that this cannot be undone, and Cancel and Merge Brokerages buttons
3

Click Merge Brokerages

All the agents move to the brokerage you kept, and the others are deleted. Hive remembers their names, so contacts that come in later with those names link to the one you kept.
A merge can’t be undone. Agents who used a removed brokerage’s address switch to the kept brokerage’s address. If the kept one has no address, it takes the address of one of the merged brokerages. Agents with their own address aren’t changed.

Delete a brokerage

Click the trash icon (Delete brokerage) on its row, then Delete Brokerage. The Delete Brokerage window: Are you sure you want to delete Hill Country Realty? 12 agents are assigned to it. They are kept, with their current address, but will no longer have a brokerage. This action cannot be undone. Cancel and Delete Brokerage buttons
  • The agents are kept. Each keeps the address they have now, including one that came from the brokerage.
  • They no longer have a brokerage. The brokerage name is cleared from their contact.
  • It can’t be undone. To bring the brokerage back, add it again and pick it on each agent.
To combine a duplicate with another brokerage instead, merge them. Merging moves the agents over. Deleting leaves them with no brokerage.

Where the brokerage name shows

The Contacts list shows each contact’s Business Name, not their brokerage. The report doesn’t print the brokerage on the agent’s card.

Common questions

Can I add a brokerage while I’m editing an agent? No. The Brokerage picker only lists brokerages you’ve already added (“No brokerages yet. Add one under Manage Brokerages.”). Add it here first. I renamed a brokerage. Do I need to update the agents? No. Every linked agent shows the new name. Why didn’t an imported agent link to their brokerage? The name in the import didn’t match any brokerage in your list. Add the brokerage, then pick it on the agent. Or rename your brokerage to match, and future imports with that name will link. Can I undo a merge or a delete? No. Both are permanent. Can I see brokerages in the mobile app? No. Manage them in the web dashboard.
