Roles on a Hive team

Everyone on your team signs in with their own login. The Teams page lists each team member, their role and how many permissions they have, for example 8/11 Permissions granted. Bookings created by support staff are assigned to the company’s default inspector. Bookings created by an inspector or sub-inspector are assigned to that person. See Schedule inspections.

Set permissions for one person

Each team member has their own set of permission switches. Turn on only what that person needs.
1

Open Manage Permissions

  • On the Teams page, click Manage next to the team member.
  • The Manage Permissions window opens with one switch per permission.
2

Turn permissions on or off

  • Flip the switches you want. Select All turns every switch on, and Clear All turns every switch off.
3

Save

  • Click Save Changes.
Turn off Publish Reports for a trainee or sub-inspector if you want an admin to check their reports first. See Review reports before they’re published.

Financial Data Access

Financial Data Access controls who can view and manage pricing, invoices and payments. Org owners and admins always have it. Other team members need it turned on in Teams. For example, changing the credit card fee on a single inspection needs Financial Data Access. See Technology fee. Issuing a refund as a non-admin in a multi-inspector company also needs the right permission turned on in Teams.

Seats and billing

  • Anyone who does inspections needs a paid seat. That includes trainees and sub-inspectors. Each additional inspector is 69/month,or69/month, or 599/year on the annual plan.
  • Office and support staff don’t take an inspector seat. Office managers get their own Support Staff login to schedule and manage inspections.
  • The 10-report package and the new-inspector plan are for single-inspector businesses. You can’t add inspectors on either one.
You manage your plan under Business Tools → Subscriptions. The Manage Subscriptions permission lets a team member view and manage subscriptions, billing and payment methods.
  • Pay splits: decide how inspector pay is split on each job under Business Tools → Pay-Splits, also linked from the Teams page. You can let sub-inspectors see their own earnings. See Sep 27, 2026 updates.
  • Several inspectors on one job: add more than one inspector to an inspection when you schedule it. See Schedule inspections.
  • Working hours: set each inspector’s availability so online booking only offers times they can take. See Team availability.
  • Hours worked: review inspector clock-in and clock-out times. See Hourly Time Tracker.
