New this week

Tandem inspections merge edits to the same comment

Tandem inspections already worked well when multiple inspectors were working in different sections, subsections, or comments of the same report. The one gap was when two inspectors edited the same comment on their own devices. Hive now merges those changes. If two or more inspectors edit the same comment and each add their own photos, everyone’s photos are kept on that comment.

One-tap offline download for today’s inspections

There’s a new download button at the top right of the inspection list screen in the mobile app. Tap it once and Hive downloads all the reports for your inspections scheduled for today. Once they’re downloaded, you’re ready for offline mode when you get to a site with no internet. You no longer have to open each inspection and each report one by one to get them onto your phone. Coming very soon: the app will also download them for you automatically early in the morning. See Mobile reports.

Auto-tagging rules for contacts

Hive can now tag your agents automatically based on the past business they’ve sent you. For example, you can mark agents as VIP based on their inspection count or revenue. See Auto-tagging contacts for how to set it up.

Brokerages

You can now group your agents under their brokerage. Open your Contacts page in the web dashboard and select Manage Brokerages.

A public page for your business

You can now create a custom public page to showcase your business, with your logo, contact info, services, team, sample reports, reviews, FAQs, and buttons for clients to schedule or request a quote. There are a lot of customizations available, including different themes. If you’re just starting out, it can also be a good starting point for a website. It’s off by default, so nothing is public until you turn it on under Business Tools → Public Page. If you’ve added your recommended contractors under Business Tools → Recommended Contractors, your clients can now request a quote from them with a single click, right from the digital report. The option appears at the end of the digital report, and only when one of your recommended contractors offers a service that matches the report. Make sure your contractors have an email address saved, since that’s where the quote request is sent. See Recommended Contractors.

More improvements this week

PalmTech template importer

Coming from PalmTech? Hive can now import your PalmTech template, including your sections, items, dropdown options, canned comments, and ratings. Reach out through the chat bubble and we’ll import it for you. See Switching to Hive Inspect.

Improved Smart Add

The Smart Add screen in the mobile app has an easy option to start your next item right away. When you duplicate a comment, the new copy now appears right there, in place, so you can update it and add photos directly. See Smart Add.

Flag comments in re-inspections

You can now flag a comment in a re-inspection report, the same way you do in a regular report. See Re-inspections.

”View PDF” first for special PDF reports

With special PDF reports, such as Florida insurance reports, some clients were opening the web report instead of the PDF. For these reports, your client now sees View PDF first and View Web Report second. This happens automatically, with no setting to change.

Coming soon

  • API and MCP access for Hive: connect Hive with your other tools, and with AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude, so you can ask questions about your own inspections, contacts, and agents.
  • Cost to Cure for commercial inspections: add repair cost estimates directly to your commercial reports.
  • AI Repair Cost Estimator: AI-generated repair cost estimates based on the defects in your report.
